A couple of years ago I saw how controltowers.co.uk was no longer online. I loved the website, and as with many WW2 aviation nuts, found it an incredible resource, so was sad it was no longer available to browse.
After a few months, I wondered if the domain name was for sale, as the owner had evidently let it expire. I went into a domain registrar, and there it was, available to buy.
I thought to myself, how cool would it be to try and resurrect the website. So I bought the domain.
I don’t have too many hours in the day, and certainly don’t want to rip off the previous owner’s work. So thought, perhaps this is a project that could be crowd-sourced… in other words, could I, with the help of others, make this an incredible resource again?
If you are the previous owner, I’d love to hear from you. I’d certainly welcome the permission to reproduce some of your old work, photos, and content.
Can we crowdsource the content?
So, for all those reading this… if you want to get involved, perhaps you want to add content, add photos of control towers, take responsibility for one particularly airfield, I’d love to hear from you… because maybe together, we could make this a fantastic website.
You can contact me here.
Cheers, Marc
