Control Towers

What is ControlTowers.co.uk?
Welcome to Control Towers, dedicated to uncovering and sharing the remarkable stories of heroism, bravery, and sacrifice throughout aviation history.
From early aviation pioneers, through to the Second World War and modern day, our mission is to honour the incredible men and women who soared through the skies, often against insurmountable odds, in some of the most challenging times in human history. It could be the daring pilots who first took flight, or those that fought in the Battle of Britain, to the courageous crews who carried out dangerous bombing missions, this history is full with extraordinary acts of valour and resilience.
But what about the Control Towers themselves?
WW2 Control Towers & Watch Offices
You might recall how for many years this website was the only place on the Internet to find out about WW2 airfields and the most iconic of airfield building: the control tower (aka watch office). We’ve not forgotten the legacy of this website.
Over the coming year we aim to start putting all the UK airfield control towers back on this website (work in progress). If you have photo you wish to contribute to the project of documenting them, please do contact us. In the meantime, keep an eye out as we add them as we go. It will be a big project!
