History:
Work started in 1940 as a Coastal Command airfield but not completed until the end of 1942. Opened for Fighter Command 01/01/1943 but saw little use and put on Care and Maintenance /08/1943.
/10/1943 to /02/1944, Used by various 9th USAAF Squadrons.
/04/1944 to /09/1944, No. 406 Squadron Beaufighter and Mosquito night fighters from Exeter, moved to Colerne.
/04/1944 to ?, No. 286 Squadron with Defiants and Hurricanes.
/05/1944 to /07/1944, No. 415 Squadron Albacores, moved to Manston.
/07/1944, No. 161 Squadron
special duties Lysanders.
/11/1944 to /08/1945, Transferred to 23 Group, Flying Training Command with Norwegian Flying School Harvards from Canada, moved to Norway. Airfield then closed for flying and sold /12/1958.
