1941, Airfield rebuilt with three tarmac runways, new control tower and buildings.
10/41 to 04/42, 122 Sqn Spitfires from Catterick, moved to Hornchurch.
02/42 to 09/42, 406 Sqn RCAF Nightfighter Beaufughters from Ayr, moved to Predannack.
04/42 to 06/42, 167 Sqn reformed here with Spitfires, moved to Castletown.
09/42 to 10/42, 410 RCAF Nightfighter Beaufughters from Ayr, moved to Acklington.
04/43 to 04/44, No. 26, 56, 130, and 604 Squadrons here.
05/44 to 07/44, 422nd and 425th Night Fighter Squadron, IXth USAAF here from Charmy Down training on Northrop P-61 Black Widow nightfighters.
06/44 to 07/44, Six P-61s based at Hurn for night missions over France.
/44 to /45, Used by RAF Balloon Command for storage. Returned to agriculture in 1958.
