History:
13/07/1954, Ferryfield Airport opened as a replacement for the Ashfield Airport at Lympne. Silver City Airways operated a car ferry service to France with Bristol Superfreighters.
By 1959 the airfield was one of the busiest in the UK with over 250,000 passengers a year.
